FingerPrint Diagnostics, founded in 2002 was the first Total Medical Ventures portfolio company. Based on a novel combinatorial chemistry platform for generating antigen libraries, FingerPrint Diagnostics technology allows the capture, at very low cost, of an “immunological fingerprint” that can subsequently be used to diagnose a wide range of diseases.
Implementing these immunological fingerprint tests in the clinic requires a multiplexing platform, and hence the merger between the novel diagnostic content in FingerPrint Diagnostics, and the ground-breaking bar-coded microparticle multiplexing platform in SmartBead Technologies offered a leap forward for both companies. The merger, to form Pronostics Ltd, was completed in June 2006.
